Plaid on Plaid!

Plaids of all kinds are surfacing on the runway, in the streets and in fashion in general. They are exciting and diverse, from the traditional glen plaids to the outrageous combinations that are found in the pictures below. How great to be living in a time where anything goes in fashion!

Style Icon: Ulyana Sergeenko

As most of you know, I always search for designers who are outside the box in creativity. Those with original creative design concepts. Ulyana Sergeenko is one of them. She began her career in fashion as a buyer of couture after marrying a very wealthy man. She became an instant street style star for her Edwardian/ Russian doll/ fairy tale influenced style. She would often ask Moscow designers to create specific looks to meet her unique taste, which she found featured in the designers' own collections. So, in 2011 she started her own couture fashion label, made in Russia which she shows twice a year in Paris. Ulyana's vintage aesthetic is something we really love and admire!

Dandyism

The Dandy subculture of the Congo has inspired street style in North America. Known for a sharp sense of colour and style, this Dandy culture wins my vote!

The first four images were taken by documentary photographer Francesco Giusti, and the last four street style images are from Street Peacocks and Guerreisms.
