George Eastman House 2011
posted on: Tuesday, December 6, 2011
We were so happy to return to the George Eastman House to do a second trunk show to benefit the museum. The buzz was hot and people came in droves! The show was a great success and for such a good cause.
We love educating people about vintage. From Rochester locals all the way to visitors from Rome (NY!), people were enthused to learn more about the collection. The room looked beautiful, with our selection perfectly laid out and ready to be admired, tried on, and taken home.
Thank you so much to everyone who came to support, we were so glad to meet you all, and see you again!

Cameos Take Centre Stage
posted on: Thursday, November 10, 2011
The romance of the cameo always reminds me of years gone by. However the nostalgia of these tokens have been breathed new life for the Fall and Winter seasons. Canada's favourite fashion magazine, FLARE, has featured a great editorial illustrating the new ways cameos are making their appearances.
We particularly love how D&G made a huge statement with them in these earrings!

Grace Kelly: From Movie Star to Princess
posted on: Thursday, November 3, 2011
One of Canada's national treasures is the TIFF Bell Lightbox, head office of the Toronto International Film Festival as well as an innovative theatre.
The Lightbox has just opened a retrospective exhibition entitled Grace Kelly: From Movie Star to Princess. It will showcase her history in film and fashion, including her 1954 Oscar gown and other vintage couture. As well as her clothing, CTVC curated a small collection of 1950s jewels reflective of her style at both the height of her career and as a princess.
The jewels are for sale with a percentage of proceeds benefiting TIFF's wonderful programming. We would love to hear any feedback from visitors!

Coveting The Coveteur
posted on: Wednesday, October 12, 2011
The Coveteur is the new inside look at today's taste makers. We were thrilled when they asked if they could spend a morning with us. Founders Erin Kleinberg, Stephanie Mark and photographer Jake Rosenberg were so much fun to have around. We were talking, shooting, having a blast!
Each day they cover someone new, but we can't stop looking at the innovative arrangements created for our feature! Please bookmark their site, it's always fun to go through.
For those of you who only know me virtually, this feature introduces you to the private life and environment of Carole Tanenbaum, the person!

Dress to Kill magazine is in its 3rd year and is trailblazing all the way! We love this dramatic editorial which is highlighted by our pieces.
By wearing one or two stand-out pieces, a person can really make a statement with their accessories. Dress to Kill really knew about the importance of placement for these shots!

Vietsun

Vietsun has done a great beauty story which featured our CTVC pieces prominently! It really showcases the important balance of colour and shape when accessorizing.
The Statement Necklace is a great starting point for an accessory, and building around it can create a completely outside the box look.

Daphne Guinness Exhibition
posted on: Monday, September 19, 2011
My son and daughter-in-law attended the opening of the Daphne Guinness exhibition at F.I.T., NY last week. It was exciting to see many designer icons such as Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, Zac Posen, and Calvin Klein. But the highlight of the show was Daphne and her extraordinary wardrobe. Daphne is a taste setter in the world of fashion. The exhibit let's you wander thru an exciting choice of outfits that knock your breath away. She is truly an original! If you are in or near NY, this exhibit is a must see.

Chain, chains and more chains!
Big, statement-making, chunky and in all lengths. Multiples are being donned on both the wrist and the neck in silver and gold. When we think of it, these easy-to-wear pieces have never gone out of fashion!
For this week's New Additions, we've brought chains to the forefront. Take a peek!

Spice (Girls)!
posted on: Tuesday, August 23, 2011
One of the most exciting trends in the Fall/Winter 2011 season is the spice rack of color.
When I received the most recent issue of Vogue France, I was blown away by the elegant and painterly palette: saffron, mustard , paprika; accented with unusual blues and vibrant greens. It inspired me to make this week's New Additions all about these tones, including brilliant golds which have also taken over the runway:
Find your Fall Flavor and add a little spice!

Wedding Bells

Talk about off-beat brides! Wedding Bells magazine did a beautiful editorial entitled Paper Doll, and thought of CTVC for jewels!
It just goes to show that one doesn't only need "safe" jewelry to adorn a spectacular wedding dress. Making a unique statement specific to your day is IN!

Janelle Monae
posted on: Thursday, July 21, 2011
Open this issue of Glamour magazine and you will see everyone's favourite new star, Janelle Monae. Look a little closer and she's wearing CTVC vintage Chanel earrings!
Monae is known for her classic tux-y look. Naturally CTVC was the perfect choice to accessorize. She is the perfect example of how vintage and a timeless look will never go out of style.
Glamour disclosed some of Monae's tips to find your own style. One of her main points was "Be timeless. I don't like trends; in photos, I'm not expired."
We agree, Janelle!
Stay Fabulous (And Timeless!)
